The Client: Vans Shoes, a U.S based manufacturer and retailer of sneakers, skateboarding shoes, BMX shoes, snowboarding boots, and other shoe types.
The Challenge: Vans wanted to create a new, online sales channel for its sportswear, liquify inventory in its retail operations and warehouses through web-based sales, and boost brand recognition across their key demographics.
The Solution: CPI Interactive partnered with IBM to provide a robust architecture for e-commerce. CPI helped design an e-commerce solution to make vans.com an online shopping mecca for young shoppers. Using IBM WebSphere Commerce, Lotus Domino, and IBM NET.DATA, CPI configured and deployed a solution that manifested as a cutting edge e-commerce platform.
The Results: The new campaign resulted in a 50% increase in online sales, particularly during key holiday and back-to-school seasons. The campaign improved customer service with faster, easier transaction processing, it increased inventory controls, and created a cleek, customer-friendly web site. Furthermore, it increased market penetration with exclusive Internet product lines for surfers and skateboarders.
